Conference Programme

The conference programme has been designed to give you the best possible learning experience and to provide excellent opportunities for professional development. There will be opportunities to hear insightful and inspiring inputs from some of the world's most respected experts on Trauma and Dissociation. The conference consists of two parts: (i) pre-conference training and (ii) the Main Conference:

Pre-Conference Training:
There will be a full day of pre-conference training sessions from 9am to 5pm on Thursday 8 April.

Main Conference:
The Main Conference will have its opening plenary session at 6pm on the evening of Thursday 8 April. This will be followed by two full days of conference activity. There will be several key note addresses by leading international figures and these will be supported by 60 smaller sesssions happening in parallel with each other.

The parallel sessions will be highly interactive time spent in smaller groups with the emphasis firmly on participation. These sessions will include presentation of research findings, symposia, lectures, workshops and so on. The smaller groupwork will stimulate discussion and debate while creating opportunities for learning and professional development as well as sharing best practice and growing your network of international contacts.

The main themes for the parallel sessions are as follows:

APPROACHES TO INTERVENTION: this theme will gather together contributions that address issues related to intervention, including: Art therapy; Sensory motor; EMDR; Phased intervention; New advances in treating DID; Complex PTSD; Intervening with traumatized children.

CULTURAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES: this theme will focus on contributions related to societal and cultural implications of traumatic experiences including organized abuse; literature and trauma.

ATTACHMENT AND THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIPS: this theme broadly gathers together all contributions about the impact of complex traumatic experiences on attachment including Disruptive attachment relationships; Childhood attachment.

ASSESSMENT AND DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS: this theme gathers together all critical issues implied in assessing and diagnosing complex trauma and dissociation and could include Comorbidity; Differential diagnosis; Complex PTSD vs Dissociation etc.

EMPIRICAL FINDINGS IN COMPLEX TRAUMA: most recent research outcomes are grouped together under this theme
